Three kitchen remodel paths — and how to know which one fits
Every kitchen we quote falls into one of three buckets. We tell you which one fits your house before you spend a dollar:
- Cosmetic refresh — paint cabinets, new hardware, new counters, new backsplash, new lighting. Same layout. 2–3 weeks.
- Mid-scope remodel — new cabinets, counters, appliances, flooring, lighting. Same footprint, maybe one wall opened. 4–6 weeks.
- Full remodel — wall removal, layout change, new island, structural work, full electrical and plumbing rework. 8–12 weeks.
What's actually included in a Shadow1 kitchen remodel
We write every kitchen scope as a line-item proposal. You see exactly what's in the price — and exactly what isn't. No 'allowances' that double at the end.
- Demolition, disposal, and floor protection
- Structural framing for wall removal (engineer-stamped when required)
- Plumbing rough-in: sink, dishwasher, ice-maker, pot-filler
- Electrical: GFCI/AFCI, under-cabinet LED, pendants, can lights, dedicated appliance circuits
- Cabinetry: stock, semi-custom, or custom — we install what fits your budget and lifestyle
- Countertops: quartz, granite, butcher block — templated, fabricated, installed
- Tile backsplash, hardwood or LVP flooring, paint, trim, finish carpentry
- Permit coordination in Charlotte, Mint Hill, Matthews, and surrounding jurisdictions

How a Shadow1 kitchen remodel actually runs
We've remodeled enough Charlotte kitchens to know the difference a real schedule makes. You should be able to plan your life around the build — not the other way around. From day one you get a Gantt-style schedule with demo, framing, rough-ins, drywall, cabinets, counter template, counter install, tile, paint, and final inspection. We send daily progress photos. We tell you the day before any trade arrives. Your kitchen isn't 'down' for an undefined number of weeks — it's down from a date to a date.

How long is my kitchen unusable?
On a typical mid-scope remodel, your kitchen is down 4–6 weeks. We help most clients set up a temporary kitchenette in the dining room or basement so you're not eating takeout for a month.
Do you do layout changes and wall removal?
Yes. We coordinate the structural engineer, permits, and inspections as part of the scope. About a third of our kitchens involve removing at least one wall.
Can I supply my own appliances or cabinets?
Yes — we install client-supplied items regularly. We'll tell you upfront which items we recommend supplying ourselves (it's usually cabinets, due to warranty and damage handling).
Do you offer 3D renderings?
On any remodel over $40,000, yes — included. We use them to lock layout, sightlines, and cabinet runs before we order anything.
