Renovations built around your worship calendar
Churches are the only buildings we work in where the schedule is fixed before we get there. Sunday service is non-negotiable. Wednesday night, Thursday choir, weekend funerals — the building has to be presentable, safe, and functional every time the doors open. We build every church renovation timeline around that reality. Loud demo happens Monday–Thursday. Dust-producing work is contained behind plastic by Saturday morning. Sanctuary work is staged so the platform is service-ready by 6 PM Saturday, every weekend, no exceptions.
Church renovation services we handle
We've worked in chapels with 40 seats and sanctuaries with 1,200. The scope changes; the discipline doesn't.
- Sanctuary renovations — flooring, paint, lighting, AV-ready stage builds, baptistry repair
- Fellowship halls and gymnasiums — flooring, acoustic ceilings, LED lighting, paint
- Commercial kitchens — code-compliant build-outs for Wednesday meals and event rentals
- Classroom and nursery additions — new walls, doors, sound dampening, child-safe finishes
- Restroom renovations and ADA-compliant upgrades
- Exterior work — siding, paint, soffit, fascia, parking-lot striping coordination
- Roofing coordination, HVAC coordination, and code-required egress improvements
Why churches in Charlotte choose Shadow1
We're a believer-led company. That doesn't mean we cut corners on price or quality — it means we treat your building like the house of God it is. We show up on time, we do what we said, we honor our word in writing, and we don't disappear when the job gets hard.
- Faith-driven, family-owned, fully insured
- Phased schedules that protect Sunday and Wednesday services
- Fixed-price proposals presented in plain language to deacon and trustee boards
- Written 2-year workmanship warranty
- Experience working with limited budgets and giving cycles — we'll phase work across fiscal years if needed
Our 5-stage church renovation process
Stage 1 — Walk-through with pastoral and trustee leadership. We listen to ministry priorities first, then assess the building. Stage 2 — Written master plan with photos, scope, and phased pricing your board can present to the congregation. Stage 3 — Permits, engineering, and pre-construction. We coordinate with Charlotte/Mecklenburg, Union, and surrounding jurisdictions. Stage 4 — Phased construction. Loud and dusty work happens midweek. Sanctuary, lobby, and high-traffic areas are restored to service-ready condition every Saturday afternoon. Stage 5 — Walkthrough, punch-list, and dedication. We hand the building back better than we found it, with a 2-year warranty in writing.
Can you keep the sanctuary usable during the renovation?
Yes — almost always. We phase loud, dusty, and disruptive work midweek and clean every wet/active area to service-ready condition by 6 PM Saturday. Many of our church projects never miss a single Sunday.
Do you work with church boards and committees?
Yes. We're used to presenting scopes, pricing, and renderings to deacon boards, trustee committees, and congregational meetings. Plain language, no contractor jargon.
Can the project be phased across multiple budgets or giving cycles?
Absolutely. Many of our church clients fund renovations across two or three fiscal years. We'll structure the master plan and pricing so each phase stands on its own and the building is functional at every milestone.
Are you licensed and insured for commercial work?
Yes. We're a fully licensed and insured North Carolina general contractor and we carry the commercial liability and workers' comp limits required by most church property insurers.
